BSC Bruisers faced the third team of Berliner Rugby Club e.V. and came away 14:101. We held up well against last season’s unbeaten winner of our regional league division in the first half, but they completely ran away in the second, where we had to concede eleven tries. But we’re well chuffed we managed to score two tries in the second half and we’re looking forward to the next match against USV Halle at home on 08.10.2017.

The Bruisers travelled to Hohen Neuendorf yesterday, for our first away game of the season and our second game against a former 2nd Bundesliga team. Unfortunately the result held little surprise and we lost the match 5:83.
We struggled with our defence in the first half, trailing Hohen Neuendorf 0:57 going into half time. We improved considerably in the second half, consolidating our defence and making a number of good runs in attack, which were rewarded with our first try of the season by captain Peter Sahlström in the 61st minute. All in all a fair result, and many good things to build on as we move forward with the season.

Yesterday was our first match of the new Regional League season and club home derby saw the BSC Bruisers come away with a 0:56 loss against their club buddies at BSC Rugby. They were relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga at the end of last season, so we knew it wasn’t going to be an easy match! Despite the result we showed some solid work in defence and scrums as well as some good runs in attack. Sadly, our legs turned a little heavy in the second half and we weren’t able to get some ‘honour points’ on the scoreboard! Congratulations to our new player Richard Gormley for becoming our man of the match and we wish a speedy recovery to Magín De La Flor Aguirre!

September 1st, 2017|Comments Off on Rugby Season starts again

Here are our matches for the autumn of 2017. We need lots and lots of supporters to come cheer us on and watch gorgeous men pile into each other in pursuit of an egg-shaped ball 😉 What could be more fun!!

We kick off with a home derby against our brothers at BSC Rugby so the more purple there the better!! There’ll be a BBQ afterwards for both teams and supporters. Kick off is at 15.00 at BSC, Hubertsallee 50. See you there!

What a great ‘Intro to Rugby’ day

August 13th, 2017|Comments Off on What a great ‘Intro to Rugby’ day

What a great ‘Intro to Rugby’ day we had yesterday. Despite the morning downpour we had over 40 people come to try out rugby for the first time 🙂 It seems we have some very quick learners, as in the touch rugby match we played at the end we had a newbie try and finished with a draw. Was a perfect end to fantastic day!!

Here’s some great images of the day from  Vincent Gehrke – Sportfotografie

If you missed out yesterday, then come to our open trainings every Sunday at Gleisdreieck @ 13.00. Next one is Sun 20th Aug. We always plan exercises that are suitable for every level including absolute beginners. Come on down!!
